Postcards from the ones to come

A postcard is a pictured or blank rectangular card that held a message without an envelope. Their power lies in allowing to communicate a message based on the relationship between image and text.

Steps

  • The facilitator starts the activity by asking participants to sit in groups.
  • The facilitator asks participants to think about the feedback that they want to deliver to their future self.
  • The facilitator then asks participants to create a visual composition to go with the textual feedback using the material.
  • People can create their own digital postcard and share it on their personal social pages, using the hashtag #ykidstheonestocome.
  • Optional: the facilitator asks participants to share the created postcards with the larger group, fostering reflection and discussion about the activity.

Tips

  • The facilitator must be prepared to have an active role in the beginning, introducing the goal and the rules of the activity.
  • During the activity, the facilitator must guide participants to be concise and clear in the feedback they want to transfer to their future self.
  • In the end, the facilitator should give space to participants in sharing their feelings and reflections.
